Game progress!

I’ve been making good progress lately with my iPhone app, pretty much spending my entire days programming it. Yeah, that’s my type of holiday! The base of the game is pretty much finished, and all I’m doing now is finishing up the remaining parts. I plan on having a little list of completed features here so you can see what I’m up to. I’m probably updating this no more than once a day so I don’t get carried away, and I figured it’s more interesting than posting nothing new.

The game will have four modes to choose from, each having the same content while providing entirely different situations for the player to interact with. I’ve managed to add a lot of little extras in and so far there are absolutely no bugs or slowdowns in the game, hopefully I can keep it this way!

Some might be wondering why I haven’t released any specific details yet. It’s true I haven’t mentioned a single specific non-generalised thing about it, but any App Store developer knows that ideas are a developer’s main weapon. It’s not a matter of being possible, it’s a matter of being original. Most of the things you can think of are already on the app store, whatever you search for. I’ll reveal all the details when I am close to releasing it.

As a programmer my creative drawing skills are pretty much nil. Although I’ve designed a great deal of images for the game so far, it’s probably far from done as I’m theming these images to associate the theme of the game, which at the moment isn’t very complete yet.

What I can do is have a bit of a “daily log” that shows what I’ve done, assuming I’ve done anything at all on that day. I’ll leave the checklist in this post so I don’t end up spamming my own blog with things. Today I’ve pretty much got a lot of the extras prepared. With extras I don’t mean secrets, but things that make the app look a little better, extra things, sliding animations, those kind of things. To my surprise, working on my difficulty design was easier to add than I thought! My next goal is to finish off my first gamemode and I’m well on my way!
